Age Requirements:
Boaters less than 12 years of age may not legally operate any motorized vessel or personal watercraft over 10 horsepower (hp).
Boaters aged 12-17 are required to complete a safety course approved by the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources.There are no vessel education requirements for boaters 18 years of age or older.
How Do I Get My Kentucky Certificate?
1. After you complete the course you will be issued a printable copy of your certificate that you can print yourself and use immediately.
2. You will also have the option of ordering a state approved, waterproof plastic card for $15. Please allow 2-3 weeks for your card to arrive.
