What is the format of the course?

You’ll learn through interactive lessons, videos, and quizzes, then pass a final exam to earn your state-approved boating safety certificate.

State Education Requirements

How do I get a Mississippi boating safety education certificate?

After you complete the course you will be issued a printable copy of your certificate that you can print yourself and use immediately.

You will also have the option of ordering a Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, & Parks approved, waterproof plastic card for $15. Please allow 2-3 weeks for your card to arrive.

Do I need to take this course?

All persons born after June 30th, 1980 must successfully complete a boating education course approved by the MDWFP to legally operate a vessel. Proof of course completion must be carried aboard by those required to have a certificate.

In addition, all boaters less than 12 years of age must be accompanied on board by an adult who is at least 21 years of age.
