Trash Overboard Decal
Required for all boats 26’ and longer. This decal explains what may not be discarded overboard and into the water at various distances from shore and in lakes, bays, rivers, sounds and certain MARPOL special areas. Perhaps most important, no plastic may be discharged overboard, ever. Oil Discharge Decal
Required for all boats 26’ and longer. The decal cites the Federal Water Pollution Control Act which has zero-tolerance for any discharge of oil or oily waste into U.S waters and beyond. Any discharge of oil or hazardous substance is to be reported to the National Response Center. Waste Management Decal
Required for boats 40’ and longer engaged in commerce, or equipped with galley or berths. This decal informs all aboard how garbage is to be collected and stored aboard. Use an indelible marker pen to fill in vessel names, person in charge, and has signature box for captain. Pollution Prevention Decal Set
Not sure what to get or just want to be on the safe (and clean!) side? Get all three decals. If your boat is 26’ or longer you’ll most likely need at least two of these and If your boat is 40’ or longer, you may be required to have all three. Affix these decals in a prominent location for the benefit of all aboard.
